The civil parish of Stoke sub Hamdon includes East Stoke, West Stoke and the main settlement of Stoke itself. Around 2,500 residents live in the parish situated 5 miles west of the market town of Yeovil in South Somerset. A recent change in local government abolished the district councils and was replaced by Somerset Council who maintain services such as planning/highways, Adult and Children's services. The Parish Council provide a large well equipped recreation ground and a youth centre which are managed by trusts. The council of 11 members meets on the first Wednesday of the month at its offices in the off North Street. If your are just passing through or considering a move to the parish you're assured a warm welcome to a village with its many facilities and huge number of clubs and groups with something for everyone.
